Our New Etsy Store!

Who can resist the lure of an Aries New Moon in Springtime?!? We can’t!

So, we are very proud to announce that we seized the cosmic winds and opened our very own Etsy store, featuring our original jewelry designs. All jewelry is homecrafted, and in time, we intend to specially feature recycle-reuse wearable art, continuing our ethic of recycling similar to the items in our eBay store. And like the eBay store, 10% of sales will go to charities that help our planet.

A Time of Change

First, we had the Pandemic. Now, we have the Revolution.

Am I the only one who is truly happy now?

Change has been a long time coming, and us humans (fae? changelings?) generally don’t like change. We want everything to stay exactly the same, always. Well, brothers and sisters, this has been a gigantic mistake.

We get caught up in comfort.

We get caught up in materialism.

We get caught up complacency.

We get caught up in safety.

And when the big nasty monster from outer, rather inner, space, COVID-19 arrived on the scene, we got permanently shook. That was just the prep work.

Now we have the REAL work, changing our world. Changing our society.  AND (wait for it) that does begin with tackling racism and bigotry, head-on. It needs to die. Now.

So, BLACK LIVES MATTER (after YEARS and YEARS of trying to get people to pay attention!) is finally here to force the change we all need. Time to birth a new reality.

Show up. Do the work. Change our world.

We can do this.

Peace and love…but this time, for real…….

UNICEF and Halloween

The leaves are falling, and the veil is thinning, which can only mean one thing: Halloween is here!

Now in addition to prepping our Samhain spells and scariest costume, it is also time to remind you dear readers of WRA’s commitment to UNICEF, the acronym for the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund. Every year since 1950, UNICEF encourages trick-or-treaters to ask for donations on behalf of children around the world. We join them once again in this most spirited endeavor, and for your convenience have pasted the link here:

Please give generously!

Happiest Samhain Blessings to all!

The Fires of Autumn

As many of you know, California has been struck by a series of wildfires that has literally devastated our state. Potentially, hundreds of people may have died in Northern California in the Camp Fire, and Southern California was hit at the same time by the deadly Woolsey and Hill Fires that marched through Agoura Hills and Calabasas and into Topanga and Malibu Canyons causing complete and total anihiliation.

Needless to say, we are hearing of many people who were affected catastrophically by the fires, and are doing everything we can to help and aid in their recovery. Please help us reach out, and share love and resources:

First on the list is the American Red Cross. When the Woolsey Fire was at its height, the Red Cross set up numerous relief shelters to accommodate all the displaced residents, and to feed and clothe them. In fact, as of this writing, the Red Cross shelters are still open, sheltering citizens and helping them to find their way back from this tragedy. (Click on name for link)

In addition to people, thousands of animals were also endangered, and many courageous souls risked their own lives to save the horses, dogs, llamas (!), and other animals from the fire. One group in particular stood out: Pony Posse, whose founder’s daughter, Rebecca, raced through flames in Malibu Canyon and saved 48 horses from certain death. So brave, and so remarkable! However, the family lost their ranch, White Cloud Ranch, to the flames and with it, lost everything: business and home. Here is a GoFundMe set up by actress Ever Carradine to help them recover. Lastly, many families suffered in these fires, and lost not only their homes, but also their clothes, toys and household goods. One group that is helping families get back on their feet is the Las Virgenes school district, which serves the Calabasas area, and has created a fund to help their families begin again:

We will update this page in the days to come as we learn of more who need help, and the results of the recovery. Please note that as we are a SoCal business, we have focused primarily first on two of the SoCal relief funds, as we are not quite aware of the needs for the North just yet. We will add those as soon as we become more familiar with their recovery process.

Love and peace to all……………….

The Wheel is Turning…

Well, boys and girls, our contentious summer is at an end, and not a moment too soon. I think it may be agreed by all that this summer was entirely too hot, too angry, and definitely too fiery. We are exhausted by it all! And so it is finally time for caramel apples, and pumpkins, and steaming hot cider. Time to grab a sweater (or flannel shirt!) and hit the hiking path to watch the leaves fall and find ourselves renewed again.

We are full of inspiration and busyness in this Virgo season at WRA….do check out our latest vision boards here:  Fall Pinterest

And as always, look for us on eBay (Wolfriverartifacts7) as we’re constantly loading new finds…every day is a new discovery.

Love and peace, dear friends!

Katy

We are still shredded over the death of the lovely Kate Spade.  Speaking of the 90s, Kate was a light and inspiration to so many young women of the time. She epitomized grace and creativity, light and energy. She encouraged all to shine, and to live their best life. Carrying her ubiquitious bag showed that you had arrived, and more importantly, that as a strong working woman, you were flying towards that glass ceiling.

This month, we are giving 10% of all sales to the ASPCA, which was a favorite of Kate’s, and her family’s request for donations in lieu of flowers. Please see the following link so you can give too: ASPCA

Summer!

We have many exciting plans for WRA this summer. Have you seen our Pinterest board?

We are full-on in our 90s nostalgia, and are loving Paula Cole:

After the fire of #MeToo was unleashed this past winter, the lyrics of this song seem even more provocative and troubling. We are at a time where the maps have been torn up, and we are traveling the road with only our hearts and minds to guide us……..

We must see each other as beings of light, souls in the desert. Can we even move away from the objectification that destroyed so many women at the hands of their perpetrators, and that has become a sordid aspect of the materialism of the early 21st century? Maybe that’s the source for the stirrings of the 90s nostalgia that is rising up : a craving for human connection without technology. A desire for something that is real, and devoid of artifice…..
